# AI Visibility

AI Visibility shows where AI assistants and answer engines cite your site: the questions Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude answer about your space, which sources they cite, and whether your pages are in the answer.

There is nothing to configure. You never type a keyword or watch list — the question universe builds itself from three sources:

- **AI-mention reverse lookups.** Questions where AI assistants already mention your domain, discovered through DataForSEO.
- **Your own Search Console queries.** Top queries you already rank for are checked for AI Overview presence in a small daily rotation.
- **Shared live checks.** When another SERPclimber project runs a live check that cites your site, the same saved answer can appear in your project without another provider request. Cross-user matches require a connected Search Console property for the cited domain; the originating user and project are never shown.

The first scan starts automatically when Google Search Console is bound to the project and the site-managed data service is available. After that, scans refresh weekly by default. The cadence and daily AI Overview check size are adjustable in project settings. If a project reaches its monthly refresh limit, partial results are kept and scans resume the next month.

## Questions

Every question row shows its per-engine result: **cited** (your page is in the answer's sources, with its rank in the source list), **competitor cited** (someone else is in the answer, you are not), **not cited**, or **no answer**. Three views slice the universe:

- **Where you appear** — questions where at least one engine cites you.
- **Opportunities** — questions where a competitor is cited and you are not, on any engine. These are the answers you could plausibly be in.
- **All** — the full active universe, ranked by importance (AI search volume or Search Console impressions).

**Pin** a question to keep it at the top of every list. **Mute** a question to drop it from views and summary counts; muted questions stay in their own view so you can restore them.

Clicking a question opens the answer drill-in: a snapshot of the answer each engine gave, with its full citation list and your own pages highlighted. When an answer cites one of your pages, the row links straight to that page.

## Ask AI

Use the **Ask** tab for a fresh spot-check. Enter one question, choose the engines, and AI Visibility asks them live. Successful answers are saved with your tracked questions, including each engine’s answer snapshot and citations.

You can make the same request from Chat by explicitly asking it to check the AI engines now. Live asks use your included monthly allowance or enabled overages and are unavailable while a project is read-only. Reading saved AI Visibility results in Chat does not use a live ask.

Question-row icons distinguish checks you made in the Ask tab or Chat from shared checks discovered through another SERPclimber project. Shared-only checks do not appear under **Questions you’ve asked**.

## Per-page view

Page Detail includes an **AI Visibility** tab showing the slice of the question universe that cites that specific full URL — the same table, views, pins, and answer drill-in, filtered to answers where that page appears as a source. Equal paths on different subdomains remain separate.

## Access

The **Access** tab answers a different question: can AI systems reach your site at all?

- **robots.txt verdicts** for known AI crawlers — training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, CCBot, and others), AI search indexers (OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot), and live assistant fetchers (ChatGPT-User, Claude-User, Perplexity-User). Each shows whether your robots.txt allows it, blocks it, or leaves it unspecified.
- **llms.txt detection** — whether your site serves one and where.
- **Real fetch counts** — with Cloudflare connected and a zone bound, the panel shows how many requests each crawler category actually made in the last 30 days, straight from your edge traffic.

## Requirements

- **Google Search Console** — required. The question universe starts from the queries you already rank for; without a bound GSC property the module shows a setup prompt.
- **DataForSEO** — site-managed. It powers mention reverse lookups, AI search volume, and AI Overview checks. If the service is temporarily unavailable, saved results remain visible and new scans wait until service resumes. See [AI search data sources](/documentation/integrations/ai-search-data).
- **Cloudflare** — optional. Adds real AI bot fetch counts to the Access tab and summary.
- **GA4** — optional. Adds traffic evidence, including visits arriving from AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity.
